Terms and conditions

The rules for using Ampl. We have tried to keep them clear, but they are still a legal agreement, so please read them before you join.

Last updated 22 October 2026.

In these terms, “Ampl”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean DOUBTFYRE TECHNOLOGIES LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17083221) with its registered office at Flat 9 Shortcroft Mead Court, 55 Cooper Road, London, NW10 1BF, trading as Ampl. “You” means the person using Ampl. Our entry on the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) register is ZC114123.

The short version

  • Ampl membership is free for eligible UK households. You must be 16 or over and give us accurate information.
  • Anyone can browse public deals. You need a verified account to claim a deal, reveal a code, save a benefits check or enter a prize draw.
  • Deals are supplied by retailers, not by us. The contract for goods or services is between you and the retailer.
  • Codes are personal and usually single-use. Do not share or sell them.
  • We can suspend accounts that are used fraudulently or that break these terms.
  • Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

If you do not agree to these terms, please do not create an account or use the member parts of Ampl.

1. Who we are

Ampl is operated by DOUBTFYRE TECHNOLOGIES LTD, trading as Ampl. We are registered in England and Wales with company number 17083221. Our registered office is Flat 9 Shortcroft Mead Court, 55 Cooper Road, London, NW10 1BF. You can contact us at hello@getampl.app for general help and privacy matters.

These terms, together with our privacy policy, are the agreement between you and us for the Ampl service. If you use a council, retailer or staff dashboard, your organisation’s agreement with us may also apply.

2. What Ampl is

Ampl is a free membership platform for people in the UK who receive a qualifying benefit or who are referred by a participating council. It brings together retailer deals, local and council offers, a benefits checker, a membership card and a record of your savings.

Our principle is “open to look, verified to claim”. Anyone can browse public pages. Claiming or revealing a deal, entering a prize draw, saving a benefits check or using Ask Ampl needs a verified account.

We are not a retailer, bank, lender, insurer, debt adviser, benefits adviser or government body. We provide the platform. Deals are supplied by retailers, and council offers are supplied by councils. We may add, change or withdraw features over time, and some features described on the site may be marked as coming soon.

3. Eligibility

To use Ampl as a member, you must:

  • be 16 years old or over;
  • live in the UK;
  • receive a qualifying benefit, or be referred by a participating council; and
  • provide accurate, current information and keep it up to date.

Membership is personal. You may have one account, and you must not use Ampl for business or commercial purposes. We may ask you to prove your eligibility. If you do not, or if we believe you are not eligible, we may refuse, suspend or close your account.

4. Your account and security

  • Keep your password, email account, mobile number and one-time codes secure. Do not share them with anyone.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account, unless it happened because of our failure.
  • Tell us immediately if you think someone else has accessed your account or obtained a code.
  • We may ask you to re-verify your details, set a password, use two-factor authentication or reset your credentials if we think an account is at risk.
  • You can update most details from your account page. Some changes need verification.

We may suspend or restrict an account while we investigate a security concern, suspected fraud or a breach of these terms.

5. Verification and eligibility checks

The main route to a verified account is a council referral. Your council confirms that you are eligible and gives you a code or link. You redeem it to become verified. The council decides who it refers; we do not control that decision.

There is also a legacy self sign-up route. If you use it, you upload a recent document showing that you receive a qualifying benefit. Our team reviews it, usually within two working days. We delete the document within 24 hours of completing the check and keep only the date and outcome. Approval is at our discretion.

Verification confirms your eligibility for Ampl. It does not confirm entitlement to any particular benefit, deal or council scheme. We may re-check eligibility, ask for updated evidence, or suspend an account while we investigate. If a council referral is withdrawn or found to be invalid, we may suspend or close the account.

6. Deals, codes and savings

Deals are offers from third-party retailers. We do not sell the goods or services and we are not the seller. The retailer sets the price, availability, exclusions, dates, locations and stock, and may change or withdraw a deal at any time. Check the deal page and the retailer’s own terms before you rely on an offer.

Member codes are personal. Unless the deal says otherwise, a code is single-use, cannot be transferred or sold, and must not be posted publicly. Misuse may invalidate a code and may lead to your account being suspended.

Revealed and confirmed savings. A “revealed” deal means you have shown an intention to use it. We cannot see whether you actually bought something in a shop, so revealed amounts are estimates and are not included in your confirmed savings. A “confirmed saving” means an online sale or another live participating channel has confirmed the saving. Savings figures are indicative and are not a promise that you will save a particular amount.

If a retailer refuses a code or a deal is unavailable, your rights are against the retailer and are not affected by these terms. Tell us as well, and we will investigate. Nothing in this section excludes our responsibility for a code we issued that does not work because of our error, or for our failure to use reasonable care in running the platform. If we earn a commission from a retailer link, we will make that clear and it will not change the price you pay.

7. Membership card

Your digital membership card shows your name, council badge, member-since date, verification badge and, if you add one, your photo. It is personal and cannot be transferred. It does not contain a QR code; member-specific deal codes are separate.

The card is not a payment card, an official identity document, or proof of entitlement to a particular benefit. It does not replace official documents. A retailer may ask for identification and may refuse to accept the card. The card stops working if your account is suspended or closed.

We may add wallet passes or other card formats in future. Additional terms may apply to those formats.

8. Benefits checker and information

The benefits checker produces an estimate based on public rules and benefit rates at the time you use it. It is not a decision by the Department for Work and Pensions, HMRC, your council or any other authority, and it is not financial, legal or benefits advice. Results depend on the accuracy of the information you enter. Confirm your position with the relevant authority or a free advice service before acting on a result.

We may update the calculator when rules or rates change. If you are signed in and choose to save a check, we store your answers and the result so you can see it again. Ask Ampl and our signposting provide general information, not regulated financial, debt, legal or benefits advice. Where a question needs regulated advice, we point you to free specialist services.

We do not make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

9. Prize draws

When we run a prize draw, entry is free and no purchase is necessary. Unless a draw says otherwise, you must be a verified member aged 16 or over. Each draw has its own rules covering dates, prizes, eligibility, winner selection and notification, and those rules take priority if they conflict with this section.

Unless a draw says otherwise, one entry per person is allowed. Multiple accounts, false information or automated entries may be voided. We may cancel, suspend or amend a draw if something outside our control makes it necessary, and we will explain what happens. Prizes are non-transferable and there is no cash alternative unless the draw rules say otherwise. Councils or retailers may provide prizes; their involvement will be shown, but it does not mean they sponsor or endorse Ampl unless we say so.

10. Council offers and partners

Councils are independent public bodies. Council offers and schemes are subject to the council’s own terms, eligibility rules and availability. A council partnership does not make the council responsible for Ampl, or make us responsible for the council or its schemes.

We may share aggregate reporting with councils — for example, how many residents joined or how many offers were viewed — but never your individual benefits evidence. Small groups are suppressed so individuals cannot be identified. Our privacy policy explains this in more detail.

11. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • create multiple accounts, use someone else’s account, or impersonate anyone;
  • give false information or hide information that affects your eligibility;
  • share, sell, publish or misuse member codes or membership benefits;
  • scrape, copy, reverse engineer or interfere with the service or its security;
  • upload malware, unlawful content or material that harms others;
  • use Ampl for commercial purposes, fraud or any unlawful activity;
  • harass our staff or other users; or
  • attempt to bypass verification, rate limits or access controls.

If you break these rules, we may suspend or close your account, cancel codes or entries, and report the matter to the relevant authorities, council or retailer. We may also co-operate with law enforcement and regulators.

12. Our content and intellectual property

The Ampl name, logo, design, text, software, databases and other content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. We give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use Ampl for your personal membership. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute or create derivative works without our written consent, except where the law allows.

Retailer and council names, logos and trade marks belong to them and are used with permission. Their appearance does not imply an endorsement of Ampl beyond the relevant partnership. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you; please do not send confidential information.

13. Availability and service changes

We aim to keep Ampl available and working, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free. We may need to pause the service for maintenance, updates or security, and we depend on third-party providers such as Cloudflare, Postmark and PureSMS. We are not responsible for outages caused by events outside our reasonable control.

We may add, change or withdraw features, deals or council offers. We will try to give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can. If a service change materially affects your rights, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can stop using Ampl and close your account.

14. Ending your membership

You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing hello@getampl.app. We will action your request within 30 days. We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, give false information, commit fraud, misuse codes, or if the law or a council referral requires it.

When your account closes, your access to deals, your card and your savings history ends. We handle your data as described in our privacy policy. Prize draw entries already made remain subject to the draw rules. Clauses that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, liability and governing law — continue to apply. We may keep limited records where the law requires it or to prevent fraud.

15. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

We will provide the platform with reasonable care and skill. We do not guarantee that you will qualify for a particular deal, save a particular amount, receive a particular benefit or win a prize draw. We are not responsible for the goods or services supplied by retailers, for council schemes, or for third-party websites we link to. Your contract for those goods or services is with the retailer or council.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, business, reputation or data, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill, but we are not responsible for loss that neither you nor we could reasonably have foreseen.

Ampl is for personal use. If you use it for business purposes, we exclude any implied terms and we are not liable for business losses.

16. Complaints and disputes

If you have a problem with Ampl, contact us first at hello@getampl.app. We will try to resolve it within 30 days. If you have a complaint about how we use your data, you can also contact the ICO — see our privacy policy.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can bring proceedings in your local courts, and any mandatory consumer protections in your part of the UK will apply.

17. Text message (SMS) terms

Availability. SMS is not available to every account. We only send these texts where SMS is enabled for your account.

Program and sender. Where SMS is enabled, our programme is “Ampl account security texts”. Messages are sent by Ampl.

What we send. Where SMS is enabled, we send one-time security codes for signing in, verifying your mobile number and resetting your password, including codes you ask us to resend. We do not send promotional or marketing texts. We may send a service message about your account security if we need to.

How you consent. Where SMS is enabled, you consent when you enter your mobile number and ask us to send a code — for example, by tapping “Text me a code”, “Send code” or “Verify” — or when you enable SMS sign-in in your account. By providing your mobile number and asking us to send a code, you agree to receive these security texts from Ampl at that number. Consent to security texts is not a condition of membership if you sign up with an email address and password. If you choose a phone-only account, we must send a verification code to create and secure it; you can add an email later. Membership is free either way.

Frequency and cost. We send a code only when you request one (including a resend), so message frequency varies with how often you sign in or verify a number. There is no recurring subscription and no fixed number of monthly messages. Ampl does not charge for these texts, but your mobile network may charge standard message and data rates. Check with your network if you are unsure.

Opting out. Where SMS is enabled, reply STOP to any text to opt out. Our SMS provider, PureSMS, will add your number to its suppression list and we will stop sending texts to it. Reply HELP for help, or email hello@getampl.app. If you opt out, you may not be able to use SMS sign-in; you can still use an email link or password. Contact us if you want to turn texts back on. We will not use your opt-out as a reason to contact you for marketing.

Delivery and security. Where SMS is enabled, delivery depends on your network and device and is not guaranteed. Mobile networks are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Do not rely on SMS as your only way to sign in; keep access to your email and password. Codes are single-use and time-limited. Never share a code. We will never ask you for your code by phone or email.

Your number and privacy. Where SMS is enabled, we use your mobile number for these security messages and to protect your account. We do not sell it or share it with retailers or councils for marketing. PureSMS processes delivery on our instructions. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data, including retention and your rights.

18. Email terms

We send service emails to the address on your account — for example verification links, sign-in links, security alerts, account changes, deal codes you request and council notifications you have opted into. Keep your email address up to date. If an email is not for you, do not open its links; tell us instead.

We only send marketing emails if you have opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and council notification emails also include an unsubscribe link. You can change your preferences at any time. Postmark processes email delivery on our instructions. Bounces and spam complaints may lead to future emails being suppressed, so if you want to keep receiving service emails, please contact us rather than marking them as spam.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the service or the law. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you do not agree to a change, you can stop using Ampl and close your account.
